For all the gamers in western NY not in the know, Running Gagg XII starts tomorrow. It’s a three day event filled with fun and every kind of gaming I can think of, roll playing, computer games, board games, etc. There is even a very fun charity auction where we auction off pretty much anything we can find.
I believe the cost is $10 for students and $15 dollars for non-students but do not take my word for it. If you want directions and lodging information you can get it here.
So if you enjoy games, nerdy conversation, and high class immaturity feel free to come on down. I’ll be there too so if you want to talk and hangout feel free to track me down. I’ve included a picture of myself so that you can find me.

I just wanted to share this photo with you. its evidence for my last comic. I’ll have to show you another picture of my cat when I get a chance to take it. She is in fact the next stage of feline evolution.

P.S. The comic is a bit late today but I will have it up soon.
It’s a little old now so you may have seen this already but Someone on a board I frequent posted this video And I thought it was rather amusing. What happens when google throws a party. It’s very amusing but the ending is slightly NSFW so depending on where you work you may want to wait until you get home.

Sorry about the late post today. I was hoping to draw it sooner but Work trouble prevented it. I’m having a lot of work anger right now so to cheer myself up I thought I would post some pictures of out puppy.
We picked her up on Dec 29th. These pictures are actually from the breeder before we got her. we have some of our own too, just not on my work computer.

A while back in mid December I wrote a comic about physicists writing papers on theories that made little sense and had very little backing them. Well, the other day while reading Slashdot I found the perfect example.
A physicist in New Zealand wrote a paper[pdf] about how the universe is really just a giant virtual reality simulator. The paper goes something like this:
“Hi I’m going to start by giving examples of other unprovable theories so mine doesn’t look so crazy.
Next I’ll describe my theory and give no testable or mathematical basis for it.
And here it the part where I try to relate my idea to real world computers and show that I have no Idea what I’m saying and don’t understand how a computer really works, and look, I’m contradicting myself multiple times in the same paragraph!”
Anyways, I think this fit what I was thinking about at the time pretty well. I wish this person the best of luck with his work. In all honesty I don’t think his paper would be to bad if he could give better examples and maybe something to work with. Even String theory is based on math.
As you can tell from reading this I have added a new blog page to the site. I was debating for a while as to whether I should keep the news page and add this on separate. I had just made some changes to it that I really like and felt like they would be going to waste if I removed it. In the end I decided to replace the news page and use this as a combination news and blog.
I’m going to try to limit this to mostly site related things such as comic discussions or interesting this I find that might relate one way or another. I have a semi used personal blog that I will use for everything else. There’s a link to it on the main page but it has little to do with the comic and I haven’t updated it in a while so you won’t hurt my feelings if you don’t. I really have no idea how often I will be posting anything here, maybe once a week or so. We’ll see.
If any of you are gamers and live in Western NY you may want to check out Running GAGG. It’s a gaming convention featuring RPGs, video games, card games and more. I have attended the last two years and it was always a good time.
The convention starts on January 25th and runs through the weekend. Admission is $10 for students and $15 dollars for everyone else.

It’s been a while since I switched over to the new hosting service from Yahoo and I figured it was about time I made a new post and let people know what I thought of it. Honestly, from a pure quality and uptime stand point it sucks. My site is experiencing down time on a daily basis and load times are sub par. I picked Yahoo because of there price, it was about $10 a month and I know you get what you pay for but I would have thought with a company like Yahoo there would be some kind of quality control.
On the other hand the tool they offer are quite nice, most of them are just free third party add-ons that you could install yourself but its nice that they offer them to you for free. They also have a simple text editor which can save you the pain of having to upload your files every time you want to make a small change. It doesn’t seem like much at first but it has defiantly come to be my favorite feature.
Overall I really couldn’t recommend there service to anyone looking run a site meant for the public, it might be good though for someone running a family site say for family photos or such.
